JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Resident Services Director
DEPARTMENT: Resident Services
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in health or human services or a related field, or an Associates
degree in health or human services.

Nursing or Social Work license preferred.

Experience: Has worked in the field of geriatrics either through training or experience.
Management & supervision of staff. Experience in long term care.
Working conditions: Assisted living and office environment; light lifting; irregular hours;
routine engagement with resident, staff and resident family members.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
1. Organize care staff scheduling for 24 hour coverage to meet all residents needs.
2. Subsequent to hire: training, scheduling, supervising and ongoing evaluation of care staff
for all shifts, delegating as necessary.
3. Establish and maintain goals and objectives for quality resident care consistent with
facility goals and objectives.
4. Assure that the standards of practice are of the highest quality consistent with the
standards of professional practice and maintain compliance to the Assisted Living
(ALC) regulations in the state of Kentucky.
5. Ensure person centered functional needs assessment and service plans are maintained and
updated, as necessary.
6. Plan and coordinate services affecting resident care while working cooperatively with
other departments to provide the highest quality care to residents.
7. Maintain good relationships with residents and their families, staff and the community.
8. Participate in the admission of all residents including level of care assessment for proper
placement. This may include home visits and medical history review.

9. Assess and maintain adequate stock of supplies and equipment within the approved
budget. Understand the budget process and adhere to the budgeted amount of spending
monthly.
10. Conduct resident care conferences with families when appropriate.
11. Coordinate resident discharge planning as needed from facility and or outside facilities.
12. Participate in planning necessary in-service training and associate meetings that may be
required along with the Executive Director.
13. Communicate regularly with the Executive Director.
14. Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
15. On call for emergency needs of care staff..
16. Review and report all resident and staff incident reports to Executive Director.
17. Communicate any incidents of concern to the Executive Director.
18. Ensure resident pendants are being answered timely.
19. Stay up to date with state regulations.
20. In the absence of the Executive Director, responsible for total operations of the building
and maintaining all standards of care.
21. Respecting HIPPA laws and maintaining confidentiality.
22. Provide education to staff to ensure all job duties are understood and being carried out
appropriately. Counseling staff members as needed to maintain compliance as listed in
the handbook.
23. Remembering always that we work in our resident’s homes, and we are to be respectful
and caring at all times.
